«One day I heard Federico of my native land ask of God, ''Lord, give me ears that understand the waters.'' And now I am the one who asks you to give me ears to hear them. Because, as mine is not the royal road of direct emotions, you must go out to meet this little path of images and shouts that runs fast and sometimes hidden in the grass.

«Like fish in a pool, or like sunflowers on the hillside, so all creatures are held in the palm of fate's hand. Immersed in a being that pulses, they dance and dream. A total mystery envelops them. The night takes them to the green pools where the moon is buried. The day to the blue, like clouds that give themselves to the light.

«In the valley of differences, where the river of life rises, the stones and the water sing, and two cultures devour and give birth to one another.

«Let, then, this reel of cries rise from the poor guts to the stars. I put it together to spread an awareness of the dance of our life: SIGUIRIYA. Like the water from the springs of my native land.» [JVdO]
